Calla shortlisted as finalist in Medilink UK Healthcare Business Awards 2018

Calla has been named a finalist for the Collaboration With The NHS award for our work in the NHS, including the body camera pilot with Northampton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

This pioneering pilot project using BWCs took place at Berrywood Hospital, which is a psychiatric facility in Northampton, England run by the NHFT. Body cameras were worn by the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression team and nursing staff on five psychiatric inpatient wards over a period of 3 months.

12 cameras were trialled by 60 staff for three months across five wards and feedback was collected from staff and patients via focus groups and questionnaires.
83% of patients felt the cameras were of benefit, describing the main positives as things like safety for everyone, respect for staff and accurate recording.

Staff feedback included:

“I think it prevents lots of aggression and puts patients’ minds at ease knowing there is a record of what happened.”

“I have seen a few occasions where the incident had deescalated and believe this to have been helped by the camera being turned on.”

“I am fully in support of the technology being used permanently in the future."

"I can see nothing but positives from it with recourse to its potential in reducing/ deescalating violent incidents.”

“Initially sceptical, however can see that body worn cameras have had a positive impact on both patients and staff.”

The prestigious Medilink UK Healthcare Business Awards, held in association with Med-Tech Innovation, celebrates the outstanding business achievements, international successes and innovative breakthroughs made across the Life Sciences and Healthcare Technology sectors in the past year.
